HOLLA!

Just wanted to give a shout out to my sista for her Birthday. She is smart, funny, talented, a giant smart @$$, and a great mom to her 3 wonderful children. I love you tons.

Random good stuff

First of all I got my prize from Felicia from http://www.fluffyflowers.com/ (I learned if you spell the whole thing out it automatically links it) Any who, she sent a Harry Potter tatoo, YAY!! I'll put it somewhere good for hubbie to discover it. Also some of those flickr cards of her adorable critters she makes, Big YAY! And she gives ME a thank you card. I need to thank her! My daughter collects stamps and on the envelope was a stamp she didn't have. Surprise YAY! So kind. I am so glad i entered the blog world. I used to be so scabby and jaded untill I met all of you! You gals have made the world so much nicer for me with all the kind comments and such.

I also met with my mom, sis, stepmom and sis-in-law for lunch and shopping to celebrate my sisters birthday. I get to tease her because she is older and for 33 days she's 2 years older.

And Brownie was sitting in a pot on my front porch, I set the pot there in the spring and hoped someone would lay there instead of some of the random places they lay. They are pretty good about using their nesting boxes in the coop but sometimes get a wild hair to lay elsewhere. The barn, under the deck, bottom of the burn pit, in the dog house and sometimes out in the grass in the middle of the yard. We don't have to wait for Easter to hunt eggs here. I even put plastic Easter eggs filled with sand to entice them to lay in the pot, but noooo, so i snap the picture and soon after some of the older hens chased her out. Rats! She looks awfully cute in the photo though.

Well it's Friday Pizza night so I'd better start the dough or we wont be eating till 10:00. Do any of you make dough in the food processor? Maybe if you are interested I'll show you how on a later post.

Pink Month

My blog is pink this month, and my Mamogram is next Tuesday. Lets take care of ourselves for the ones we love.

Chickens everywhere!

Lucky looks like she has been chewed by a fox for a few hours and then spit out.

Chickens go through their molt in the fall where they quilt laying, loose their feathers and get fluffy new ones in time for winter. She is a little embarrassed by how she looks so I had to sneak this photo.

New show, new sew

I have one more show scheduled for the year on November 10th and this one is a doozie. This show is in my community. It has been going on for 20 years. Has over 250 crafters and last year almost 10,000 people attended. This is an indoor show and goes from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm. Can you imagine that many people in our Middle School in that short of time? There are shuttle buses throughout town from many parking lots. There is a $3 entry fee and the proceeds help out our schools teams, clubs and youth programs. Crafters across the country are in this show. There is a huge wait list for vendors to get in. I happened to have luck on my side last year and got in the week before the show and had my most successful show there. So this year I am super geeked for this one.

I was at a quilt shop and found a scrap pack of Heather Bailey Freshcuts.

Not only did I get a bargain but it also helps me grow and use some fabrics I may not have picked on my own. I found some complimentary fabrics at a JoAnn's to help stretch my treasured Heather Baileys.

So I made these today.

I don't usually use brown but I love with how it turned out.

Women vs. Women

This woman who writes the yarnstorm blog, Jane, wrote a book called "The Gentle Art of Domesticity". And I was just reading her blog and she had this newspaper review of her book that was the typical rip from a working woman towards a "domestic" woman. (I haven't figured out the linky thing yet but you can just go to her blog and read if interested)

I just don't get it. You hear it all the time. Working Mom's VS. Stay at Home Mom's. What's up?

I was a working woman and when I had my son I had to stay home. It was the best thing for our family. Some women work and it's the best thing for their family.

I have working mom friends and stay at home mom friends. I have many working mom's who I feel indebted to. My O.B.G.Y.N, the delivery room nurses, countless teachers, the women who set up these art and craft shows' that allow me to just come in, set up and sell my stuff. Just to name a few.

I'm sure there are plenty of working moms who are grateful for the volunteer work stay at home mom's provide for the schools in their community as well as some who can babysit in a pinch.

We are women all in the same boat as far as I am concerned. As Mothers we all have the same worries, stresses and joy's. Raising children is quite a job no matter what ever else we have going on in our lives. Let's put our weapons down, get along and help each other when we can.
