Homemade Noodles

If someone you love has a cold, and you have all the other ingredients for soup except the noodles, don't run to the store, just make some.

Put a couple cups of flour in a bowl, the nice thing is you can use whatever flour you like, I have never tried a gluten free type, but I think that would work too. Make a well and add an egg or two. My family likes a lot of noodles so I use more of both.
Mix however you like, I use my hands.
I knead it a bit, it has a tougher feel than bread.

Pinch off a bit and with floury hands, start rolling. It's just like making play dough snakes.
This can get monotonous, it's good to have free child labor. Break them off any size you like.

I make them bite sized, since they are thicker than the average noodle.
If you make a bunch, make sure to sprinkle flour each layer in the bowl or they start to stick together.

Get your soup base boiling and add the noodles. They only take a couple of minutes to cook.

(sorry for the crappy photo)

They are a bit chewy but the family loves them.

CeeCee - I didn't get one either. :-(

And I don't think that one should have to have a cold to have these noodles, nor should they only be made for others...in fact, I might just make some for myself! LOL!

WOW...you made that look so easy. And I think I'd like to be added to the guest list too!

mmmmmmm..I love these. Tasty good. I actually roll mine out with a rolling pin and then slice them up with the pizza cutter. Good tip on the flour btwn the layers...they can get sticky otherwise!

Sounds like you guys go thru them just as quickly as we do!

We have one of those hand-crank pasta cutters, however, I actually like it when the noodles don't look so perfect. Your soup looked good.

Oh my grandmother taught me to make home made noodle soup and I do it quite often. Now I want to go home and make these. Yummmm!

Oh and I received that adorable chicken pillow in the mail today. Thank you so much and that cute little door hanger is so sweet.

I've never made noodles from scratch before. Oe day when I am able to walk into my kichen again and cook, I will make these.
They sort of remind me dumplings and my family loves those.

Thanks for sharing.
