OMG - that little guy hatched out in your HAND - that's amazing! And what a lovely hand you have. Did you talk to him/her when he/she was hatching? D'you think the little guy imprinted on you? (do chickens imprint?) Questions, questions...so many questions! Welcome, Uno!!
It didn't actually hatch in my hand. I kept grabbing it out from under its mama (I'm pathetic). The first clip and the last one were about 4 hours apart. I had laundry to do and met with my moms and sisters, they treated me out to a birthday lunch. I also didn't want the little ball of fuzz to think I was its mom. Also she was keeping it so warm and cozy and if you've ever felt my hands sans gloves, well then you know what cold is. But is was amazing to hear the peeping and see the progress it was making pecking through that shell.
My daughter made me replay these twice. She liked the one where Uno was still in the egg, but we could hear him peeping. :) Thanks for sharing your 'hand' videos.
Is this like "An egg in the hand is like one hatched chick" or however that old saying goes? :P
I am a wife of one, a mom of two, self taught artist, but inspired by many, with a deep deep love for my sewing machine and fabric. We live on a 4 acre "mini farm" with sugar creek running through. I grow organic veggies, have chickens and a border collie who helps me keep them in line. Did I mention I love to pinch pennies?

I wondered if momma hen had any idea that her chick had hatched, but you answered that already. How are they doing?
Wow, that's some hand. In fact, those have to be the cleanest, nicest looking nails I've ever seen on a farmgirl!
The kids loved the vodeos btw!! :)
That's amazing. Just amazing.
