Todays harvest basket.
Wait, what's that on the left? Something other than green?

One of my Pink Girl tomatoes.
Thank you Tomato Gods.

thrifty finds

I've never counted but i probably have 50 cookbooks, could be closer to 100, I've never checked. It's a lot though. So why do I always head to the cookbook section in our libraries book sale?
Because I find great books like this. It tells how to store foods AND recipes to boot!

And these, who doesn't need to eat more beans and pies anyway. Blue Ribbon Pies!

I have always been tempted to buy a big sack of rice at the store just to get the cool bags.

Looks like I don't need to.
Garage sale score!

I turned one into a more purse like bag.
I used a batik fabric for the handle and lining.

There was already a zipper in place, so I made it into a pocket.
Do you think these would sell?

Hubby bought me a veggie gathering basket in the clearance section at Tractor Supply. I always just used a plastic bowl before. I love this thing.
I got our second zucchini and our first three cucumbers!

Not bad for a Wednesday.

We're Jamming

We are lucky to have a giant wild raspberry patch in the woods behind us.

The scratches, bug bites and purple fingers are a small price to pay.

The kids aren't as dedicated to picking as their mother.
They trudged home while the farm pup and i kept going.
(farm pup picks his own)

We're smashing.

We're Canning.

We're rubbing our tummies in anticipation.

Hand picked homemade jam and home made bread.
We hope you like jamming too.

I'm back.

The Art Fair was fun, long, tiring.
I sold quite a bit of everything which is good.
I missed my family. They missed me but held the fort down.
I met nice people. Compliments keep me going.

Getting back to normal around here.
Garden is thriving. A new lone chick hatched.
I have 11 bag orders to make.
Raspberries to pick.
2 1/2 weeks till my next show.
Lots more sewing to do. Good thing I love sewing.
Kids need hugging, I love that too.
Life is good.

I think I'm ready

I just need to pack the Monster Truck, finish cooking up food so my family wont starve while I'm away and do those last couple of loads of laundry.
If you are local and plan of going there, please stop by and say hi. I'll be at space E79 at Kings Courtyard off of Liberty. If you take the shuttle, the William and Main street bus will be the closest to where I am.

I probably wont be around here until next week.

While I'm gone here is a video my son posted of his latest Lego creation.

Enjoy!

Thanks

Ceecee from Texas, who takes amazing photos of creepie crawlies, Mo who grows an amazing amount of veggies considering she is living in the Phoenix desert, and Midwife who is busy bringing new life into the world, hers and others, all presented me with this award. Thanks ladies, I love reading your blogs and this means a lot coming from you.
I am supposed to come up with 10 things to say about myself, honest things. It usually takes me time to figure out a list but I have been so busy that I'm just going to wing it.
1. Speaking of busy, I have this horrible flaw that when I get too busy, I feel so overwhelmed that I almost get nothing done. I try to make a list and just start with one thing, but being a mom and wife I put all other things first. Then I let so many things go that I beat myself up for not being able to handle it all. How do full time working moms do it?
2. I love food. I know this isn't news to many of you but I used to be a skinny mini that could eat anything I wanted. Now that I'm older, how do I just eat a little of something? Portions, yeah right, I want to be full. So now I am chubbier than I have ever been. Diets suck!
3. I try not to care what others think if its negative, but sadly i do. On the other side, i get uncomfy with too much compliments.
4. I like being married and love my husband. Something I never thought I'd do when i was young.
5. I'm stubborn.
6. I don't mind getting dirty, hell I'm dirty right now. I just cant stand having grease on my hands. Like motor oil. The times I'm out bike riding and have to put a chain back on, I will rub my hands in the dirt to try to get it off. If hubby needs a hand doing engine work, I'll help but I have to go and wash the second its done.
7. I don't like hotels.
8. I consider myself tomboy but like to wear dresses and makeup on occasion.
9. I don't mind messes and feel uncomfortable if I go to someones house and its too clean. So if you come to my house and its messy, it's because i love you. You're welcome.
10. I like funny people. Funny funny and funny weird.
Now I'm suppose to pass this on to 10 others. I'll pass it on to blogs I like to read even if they got this award already. frugalmom, farm mom, farmgirl_dk,

weekend plans

Yesterday morn I was looking at permanent ink artist markers online, wishing i had more cash. The kids and i went running errands, spent an hour at the DMV to get my son his permit to drive. We stopped at Meijer to get some food for the long weekend and as I was strolling along, I glanced at one of the end caps and saw art supplies ON CLEARANCE!
Then when I rang them up they were even cheaper than the orange sticker claimed, OH HAPPY DAY! My plan is to doodle with them on fabric, so I have something to do during the long grueling hours at the Art Fair.
*
My plan for this long weekend is to give my coop a face lift. I still have that winter run I had slapped together quickly last fall, that is changing too.
Hopefully I'll have lots of impressive shots to show next week.
*
*HAPPY 4TH OF JULY EVERYONE*
What are you doing this weekend?
