this weeks work tally

I didn't get my 10 bag per week goal. It was an unusual week, Memorial Day Monday, family issues Tuesday, Field Trip Friday, Soccer Games and my cousins sons Graduation Party Saturday and make up Soccer games today.
Oh did I mention I had to throw a birthday get together for my son today?
We had an hour and a half time kill between games today so I came up with one of my most brilliant ideas ever. I had everyone meet at Dairy Queen for Ice cream. No house to clean, no cake to bake, no dirty dishes. My son loved it and one of the grandparents got him Guitar Hero III. I have one happy teen.
We then had time to visit Great Grandpa (88) in the hospital, he's good, had a blood clot in his leg but should be out on Tuesday. He had to blow in this machine while we were there and I asked if it was his crack pipe, he said no it was for his marijuana. The kids were cracking up!
So in spite of all that i finished 7 bags, 15 tissue packs and made eight 3 packs of cards.

I took photos of some of my art quilts, printed them on card stock, cut them out and stitched them onto cards with matching envelopes.

So with last weeks 12 bags and this weeks 7 I am at 19 new bags, so only one shy of my 2 week 20 goal, I have a much slower calender this week and should be able to do 11.

Just don't look at my pathetic weedy garden and messy house.

Wow, girl! When you've got a goal to reach you really do try your best to reach it...even with a completely full schedule!
Good for you. You're doing an awesome job and I can't wait to find out how the shows goes.

Great Grandpa sounds way cool. I bet the kids just adore him.

By the way, I sent someone to your Etsy today when they were admiring my chick bac and my horse feed bag bag, too.

She said he has been looking for someone who can do custom work to make her something amazing and different because she's a Biologist who likes plant designs, especailly 'Fractal-like" designs.

I told her, "If Michelle can't do it, noone can!" hehe

I see the new flower bags, NICE!

1) If anybody needs any eggs cartons, I'm overflowing with 'em.
Friends and coworkers bring me so many I could never use them all.

2) I still have my day job (of 25 years and burnt out)but I'm
starting EGGcetera, a tiny kitchen on wheels. I'll be selling egg and
other dishes at High Country events, festivals, and Farmers Markets
on weekends. I really enjoy baking with all my eggs from the girls
and want to give this a try, although I don't know a thing about what
I'm getting myself in to. With the high gas prices though, I'll just
stick to the High Country area. A fellow in West Jefferson custom
builds concession trailers and he knows about making them to "code"
to satisfy the health dept. I'll have a griddle, oven, full frig,
full freezer, A/C and heat, generator, and electric plug in, 15
electrical outlets, workdesk for laptop, table on hinges that unfolds
outside, microwave, plenty of storage, 4 sinks, hot water, red and
white checked floor, red tin roof, red door on yellow body, and white
lattice to look like fencing - like we're pulling a chicken coop
around. All for $9,500 in a 6' X 10' which I think is a fair price.

I'll be selling savory and sweet crepes, egg casseroles, eggs to
order, cheesecake, egg salad, potato salad, etc. Anybody with a good
and easy egg dish please forward it to me. Or what are some things
that would interest you to eat? at a festival? more healthful things
than the usual junk food. I may even try selling to a lunch crowd
during the week in Boone. Any idea's you have for me would be
appreciated.

3) I still haven't gotten either of my two November orders from
Sandhill, they said it was because I had some bantams in the mix and
they were very late to start laying. I've got 40 birds on order and
don't need any, don't know what I was thinking back in November.

4) My girls, including the two turkey hens, have been setting egg
laying records this year. Even my Faverolle girls have been
excellent layers this Spring. Here in Boone, we haven't had any warm
weather yet, has been a delightful cool Spring.

5) At the moment, I am down to one standard size roo, a Red Sussex,
because I am very protective of my girls and the Marans roo's
especially are such heathens when mating. When the Wheaten roo broke
the leg of a young Wheaten hen, CherryPie, that's when he departed
this world along with the Cuckoo Marans roo. I sold fertilized eggs
this Spring but now will not have anymore this year, besides I'm
baking with the eggs and sell a few for eating.

6)I have been buying the RESCUE Fly Traps at Lowes Hardware or
WalMart (a $1 cheaper at WalMart) and I love those things. Don't
know about y'all but the fly population in our yard is horrible, plus
we are surrounded by two cow pastures. Those fly traps have killed
thousands of flies and yet the flies are buzzing everywhere. I'm
trying to reduce the fly population for the humans, poultry, and
dogs.

7) Mike and I are FLYING to San Francisco on July 9th. Mike has never
been on a plane and it's been years since I've been on one. We both
have a fear of flying. We're going to a family reunion, people I
haven't seen in 25 years, my cousin talked me into coming. We're
staying for a week and I'll so miss my critters but my female tenant
will be taking care of them and I trust her.

Take care,
Joanna in Boone

Twinville- thanks so much for the props and sending people my way.

Oh Joanna, that sounds amazing! A chicken coop kitchen on wheels! The thought of a tasty crepe at a festival instead of a deep fried something sounds heavenly.
Maybe some mini quiche with different fillings might be something you can make ahead of time.
You have to start blogging about it all. Your hens, turkey, your kitchen, business adventures.

Do your Cuckoo Marans lay the chocolate eggs? I wanted to get some but didn't want the straight run they only offered. Maybe next year.

Some of my Cuckoo's Marans lay sorta dark eggs and the others just lay an antique-colored egg. HOWEVER, it's the Wheaten Marans that lay deep chocolate-colored eggs. I got the Wheaten's from a Marans breeder.

Try to find a Marans breeder in your area. The color that the Marans lay is all about the breeding.

I like a contrast of colors when you open a carton of my eggs - from white to a deep brown.
