I had a girl home sick from school Friday, she kept her fever all the way through Monday.
Sunday my kitchen sink clogged up. Broke a plunger, went through 2 bottles of draino. No luck, still clogged. This evening Hubby will get out THE SNAKE.
Needless to say my clean kitchen is no longer clean, I can't use the dishwasher and I am amassing a very large fruit fly collection.
In spite of all that,
I did my weekend homework.
I kept my cell phone on me so the girl could call from the couch.
I nailed down the roof.
I did the majority of the shingles.
I just need to finish the cap.
On Monday, my dad installed the windows and door.
Fancy and free!
Display windows get pitched, the guy I sleep with is there to clean up.
Not a bad trade, nookie for free building products.

I put foam in the walls.
Yes my chickens will have insulated walls!

My dad nailed up the interior boards on 2 walls. Leftovers from another project.
I'm thinking of painting them. Does anyone know what color chickens like?
My dad is traveling the rest of the week, my homework is to finish the interior boards on the other two walls. I may have to work around the rain.
My muscles ache, I'm getting carpal tunnel hands while I sleep, and i think I may need a hip replacement.
I couldn't be happier!

That does look like hard work. But it will be so worth it when you are done. The chickens will love you forever and ever and ever. The guy that you sleep with will, too!
Beautiful! :)
DANG Girl!! You weren't joking about that selling yourself thang were you?!?! You crack me up!! :)
Now that is a chicken house!
Great job.
Beautiful coop, it just keep getting more so each time I see your additions. Can I recommend something in a color that compliments chicken poop? :)
Now that is the nicest chicken house I have ever seen!! Look at those fancy windows. Wow!
I think you shouldn't be surprised when your hens start requesting room service once they're settled in....Oh wait. That service comes with the new accomodations, right?
Oh! And I love that last photo. So full of joy! :)

Oh...sorry about your daughter.
And sorry about your sink. Be thankful, though, it's not your toilet.
I have questions. So many questions.
1) What's a drip edge - Is that like a gutter?
2) What's an ice guard - does it have something to do with playing hockey?
3)Are you gonna put up wire or hardware cloth on the inside of those fancy windows?
4) You know that your coop rivals mine now and, for this, you will have to take a lot of ribbing. Folks like "the warren" are going to start teasing you about curtains for the windows.
5) Where's the doorbell? :-)
The chickens in your coop next door are going to be jealous - you know this, right? It could get ugly.
Frugalmom, they better love it and me after this. The guy I sleep with has to love me, I feed him.
Thanks Mo!
Farm mom, I guess I'll sell myself for building supplies too. I'm a ho!
Ga.farmwoman, I cant wait to see your fancy coop.
Wrensong farm, thanks for the tip on the paint, so you suggest white with brown streaks? ;-0
Laughing Orca, thanks for the coop love. I figure I'd better make it up to them after THE CRATE!
Room service, massage, and pedicures are complimentary.
Farmgirl, my girl went back to school today, she had a big test. She said she feels much better, thanks.
Still no sink, but yeah, a toilet problem could be worse.
Answers,
1. a drip edge is a thin piece of bent metal in a T shape. It fits over the edge of the plywood to protect the edge on the roof from getting wet.
2. Ice guard is like this thick sticky backed water proof paper about 3 feet high, you roll it on the lower edge of the roof to protect it from Ice and water damage. You install it sticky side down (it has a protective plastic), once in place you pull the plastic out from under.
3. That is exactly what I'm going to do. You smarty pants.
4. Since it isn't finished yet, yours is still way better. Especially with that door! But I hope to have it featured in Better Coops and Gardens.
5. The doorbell goes in last.
We are hoping to have one big happy chicken family there and save the little coop for some turkeys in the spring.
