(My photos usually are crap but you have to enlarge this one, I am proud and surprised at how great it looks)
I got home from my show last evening and discovered my first red tomato. Oh thank you wise tomato gods for waiting until now. I couldn't imagine blueberries, green beans, cukes, getting ready for a show, not to mention regular life stuff AND ripe tomatoes waiting for me. I am seeing fresh salsa, sauce and tons of canning in my near future.
Also in my future, I got the summons for jury duty. Third time in 3 1/2 years. Lucky me.
The chickens have been laying in the dog house more since the raccoon attack. They don't feel as safe in the coop.
(Chip and Freckles)
Speaking of raccoons, trapped #4 last night and discovered this nighttime damage to the coop. I am so thankful you ladies understand my dilemma with the masked wearing devils.
Does every farm, mini or big need this symbol somewhere? I think so.
Hubbie picked up this beauty at a garage sale for $15 bucks.
Small enough to hook to the 3 wheeler for mini jobs around here. Cleaning the coop is going to be so much easier. Not to mention wood hauling and garden work. Yay!
Yes that is duct tape covering the seat of the 3 wheeler, cheaper than a new seat right?
A future blog teaser...
...I tied for first place this weekend.
Next post will be about Summerfest!

I've never seen such a striking color in a sunflower! You captured it beautifully, too.
I don't like tomatoes, so I won't comment on them, but to say, "Yay for your sauces, salsas...oooh. I do love salsa! Ok, so I do like tomatoes that have been squished and embellished a little. haha!
Ranchman John says that, "Yes, no farm is complete without a John Deere" My kids love love to ride in the back of our John Deere cart. And when friends come to visit that their favorite thing to do, too! :)
Congrats on the excellent bargain...and a John Deere, too! Whooohoo!
Oh. And we like Duck Tape around here, too. Ranchman John says, "No farm is complete without duck tape and hay twine" :) You can fix anything!
Man! Those coons are picking on my last nerve. Where are they all coming from??! Coon #4 now!! Gah!!
Those poor chickens :(
Yep, I'm cheering you and your hubby on for every coon you capture and send to coon hell....coons don't deserve heaven. :(
And hey! Congrats on your 1st place win!
The sunflower is gorgeous. I love, love, love the color. I had those at my last place.
Those little carts are great. We have one(not a john deere!), but still works the same, right! We haul all kinds of stuff in that behind the riding mower.
OOHHH..jury duty...I have yet to be called for that(knock on wood).
Thats a good amount of damage to the coop. Those pesky intruders.
That picture is beautiful! Wonderful composition and nature sure turned out her best for you to catch. Can't wait to hear about the fair.
Glad you're cleaning up your coon problem. We've been lucky, so far the only thing the area coons have robbed us of is our sweet corn.
We had some critter run off with 2 golden polish hens already. We have them all back in the pen right now waiting for the new chicken house.
The sunflower is beautiful and the tomato looks great. Can you believe I am almost finished canning and freezing??
It is so nice to look at all those jars and all the bags of frozen food waiting for winter.
Congratulation on the win and look forward to reading more about it.
Oh yeah..T-Bone looks just like BoDog standing there.
Pam
Congrats on your 1st place showing! Sorry I didn't get to say good-bye to you on Saturday what with all the rain and all! Hope you did well.
Twinville, I love those sunflowers. Hubbie planted them. I liked the dew on the petals.
I am not a fan of raw tomatoes either, put them in salsa or cooked and I'm in heaven.
I used the John Deere cart yesterday to haul wood, so handy.
The front grill of my truck is held together with duct tape. I am so classy crusin around with that.
I think word got out in coonville about the tender young chicks and they are showing up in droves. I hate those coons.
My win was only a sort of win, I can't take too much credit for it.
Frugalmom, thanks for the photo love, it is rare for me to get a good one.
I used the cart yesterday and love it.
Once they get you for Jury Duty it never ends! I just hope it is a short one.
Those coons want chicken meat and will do anything to get it. I used to think raccoos were cute, not anymore.
Thanks Jen, coming from a real photographer it means a lot!
Farm mom, my dad will be out of town for the next month, so I get to keep the traps until he gets back. We'll see how many I get.
ga.farmwoman, not the golden polish! Thats awful.
We got a killing frost and i had to replant my tomatoes. I envy you being almsost done canning and freezing. You southerners are blessed with those warm temps.
The gal at
http://fluffyflowers.typepad.com/ has a dog that looks like BoDog and T-Bone, his name is Lucky Cow Dog. I love those white with black head dogs!
Hi Kate, I know that weather was a downer. I wanted to check in with you and say goodbye. I hope you did well, I saw many of your items walking by.
